Oct. 30: Ayrton Senna wins his first F1 championship on this date in 1988

After qualifying in pole position for the 1988 Japanese Grand Prix, Ayrton Senna's McLaren stalled at the start and fell to 14th place. Thanks to a bump start, Senna restarted his car and quickly made up the gap; halfway through, he passed Alain Prost, and with the course drenched by rain, no one challenged Senna as he won his first Formula 1 driver's championship. Even though his career was cut short, many F1 devotees still consider Senna the greatest ever. See him at work below:
