Backfires Brief No. 4 is all wrapped up, the votes have been counted, and we’re happy to announce that Backfires member mister2 has taken the prize with his hilarious submission, Rudy, Rudy, Rudy. mister2′s entertaining argument for diesel’s superiority over hybrids has earned him a sweet trophy: a new set of tires courtesy of Hankook Performance Tires. Although the prize for this contest was supposed to be a set of Hankook Ventus S1 noble2 tires, mister2′s ride cannot be equipped with that specific tire. The good news is that, per the contest rules, he’ll be offered a substitute set of compatible tires.
mister2′s submission was followed by HammerHead Fistpunch’s second-place Practically Fun, and a four-way tie for third place between Brian H.’s compelling Diesels? Hybrids? Why not both?; DeutscheAuto’s I’ll take mine with extra batteries, please; Simul8guy’s No contest — Diesel all the way; and S2k Chris’s R.E.P. The 3 Reason (sic) why Diesel is the better choice.
It’s worth pointing out that of the 29 submissions we received, over half were pro-diesel pieces, and among those who backed hybrids, most were in favor of a diesel hybrid. Thought-provoking, no? As always, we appreciated all of your submissions and hope every Backfires member participates in the next Brief—whether you’re a Level 4 (and above) member submitting an entry or any Backfires member punching a vote.
