BMW 4-series Convertible Photos Leaked (Bikes Not Included)

One of the worst-kept secrets in the industry at the moment is the existence of the 4-series convertible. Even though photos of the 3-series convertible’s replacement have turned up on BMW Blog—fitted with a bike rack because, you know, BMW owners are hip and active—BMW won’t confirm anything.

We already know that the 4-series convertible will keep its predecessor’s retractable hardtop design, despite an industry-wide trend to revert to cloth tops. The main reason for this is cost. This trunk-eating roof design is essentially a carryover part from the 3-series convertible.

We expect the droptop 4-series to launch with a 240-hp, 2.0-liter turbo four to be badged as the 428i; as well as the 435i-badged 300-hp, 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six. An M4 convertible is a certainty, but seeing as the coupe version still hasn’t officially seen the light of day, that won’t be for some time yet

  • First Ride: 2015 BMW M3 and M4 Prototypes
  • First Drive: 2015 Mercedes-Benz E400 Cabriolet

More will be revealed in the coming days and weeks, as another rumor making the rounds is that that 4-series convertible will bow at next month’s L.A. auto show.
