Recalls: Ford Focus for lighting failures, Subaru models for rollaways

Ford is recalling 6,308 Focus models for wiring problems that can cause the side marker lights to fail, according to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On 2012-2013 Focus Electric and ST models with the optional xenon headlamps, the front side marker lights can fail due to a "wiring incompatibility," Ford said. Dealers will replace the headlamp wiring assembly starting this week. Owners can call Ford at 1-866-436-7332.

In June, Ford recalled more than 13,000 cars from 2013 to fix childproof door locks that may inadvertently switch off when the rear doors are closed. It also recalled nearly 467,000 cars to fix problems with fuel leaks, steering loss and cracked wires.

Subaru is recalling 202 cars that may not shift out of park or could roll away. The 2013 Tribeca, 2014 Outback and 2014 Legacy have parking rods inside their automatic transmissions that could come loose and cause the parking lock to fail. Subaru dealers will replace the entire transmission starting at the end of this month. Owners can call Subaru at 1-800-782-2783.

In April, Subaru recalled 200,000 Legacy and Outback models from 2005-2009 for brake lines that could rust and leak fluid. In May, 5,379 Legacy and Outback vehicles were recalled from 2013 for mechanical steering failures.

General Motors is recalling 10 SUVs from 2014 to fix loose brakes. Only 10 models of the 2014 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL were affected. The rear brake caliper bolts may not have been tightened properly during assembly and could lead to increased stopping distances, GM said. Dealers will inspect and tighten any loose bolts, although GM did not specify when customers would be notified. Owners can call Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC at 1-800-462-8782.

Among several recalls this year, GM recalled 42,904 Buick and Chevrolet hybrid sedans in May to fix circuit boards that could catch fire and cause the cars to stall. In June, GM added 230,000 more SUVs to an earlier recall to fix electrical issues that could cause fires. In July, GM recalled 843 Silverado and Sierra pickups from 2014 for passenger airbags that may not fully inflate in a crash.
