Name That Shifter, No. 140: Dodge Demon Concept

Shifter No. 140

On Monday, we presented this week’s shifter and asked you to identify the make and model of the vehicle whence it came. Although several of you came close this week with guesses pegging the shifter as a Mopar unit, no one correctly identified it as the Dodge Demon concept‘s six-speed manual.

The Demon, as some of you may recall, was a baby Viper–like roadster Dodge paraded onto the show-car circuit back in 2007. Intended to take on Mazda’s MX-5 and the (now-discontinued) Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky, the Demon was a small, simple, rear-drive convertible. Unfortunately, the neat Dodge was never realized, likely due to the lack of a readily available, fresh platform (the concept rode on modified Chrysler Crossfire bones), as well as that minor money issue that led to Chrysler shacking up with Fiat. But hey, at least we got to drive the Demon before it slid into the ether.
