BMW Vision Gran Turismo: One Sexy Bimmer Not for this World

BMW Vision Gran Turismo

There has been speculation that BMW will release a proper supercar for some time now, and that car is finally here. At least, a car that looks like it could be that car is here, and by here, we mean it soon will appear in a video game. You might have heard of it—it’s called Gran Turismo, and BMW’s Vision Gran Turismo (pictured above) will join a cadre of other Gran Turismo–exclusive fantasy rides from automakers and design houses such as Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Zagato, Bertone, and more in the new Gran Turismo 6 title.

According to Polyphony Digital, Sony’s partner behind the Gran Turismo franchise, the BMW Vision Gran Turismo is “an exclusive virtual concept derived from the BMW M genes.” We think it looks enough like an M1 remastered for the 21st century—and crossed with an i8—that BMW could throw it into production tomorrow to go head-to-head with the likes of Porsche’s 918 or the upcoming Acura NSX, to say nothing of the LaFerrari or McLaren P1. Back in fantasyland, the one-off, digital BMW will join special creations like the Alfa Romeo 6C Biposto Vision Gran Turismo, the Volkswagen Golf GTI Vision Gran Turismo, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo, and a host of other rides with “Vision Gran Turismo” in their names dreamt up just for the game—including a design from Nike. The Vision cars will be bundled into downloadable car packs, and you can check some of them out in the video embedded below. Oh, and look for GT6 to go on sale this December.
