Audi Celebrates Half a Million TTs with 500 Special-Edition TTS Competition Models

Audi is celebrating the assembly of the 500,000th TT sports car since the model was introduced in the late-1990s. And as is trendy these days, the automaker is commemorating the feat with a special-edition iteration of the high-performance TTS called the Competition. Audi will build just 500 examples, and they’ll be sold exclusively in Europe.

TTS Competition buyers are limited to just two colors—Imola Yellow or Nimbus Gray—and can have their special-edition fun in either coupe or roofless roadster form. A fixed rear wing similar to the unit that adorned the now-discontinued TT RS and five-spoke 19-inch aluminum wheels visually set the Competition apart from lesser TTs. Mechanically, the TTS’s standard 272-hp, turbocharged four-cylinder (packing 61 more ponies than the regular TT’s mill) and Quattro all-wheel-drive, carry over to the Competition. Both a six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic are available.

Inside, the Competition gets Steel Gray leather with contrasting yellow stitching and accents, as well as aluminum “1 of 500” badges. A bevy of comfort and convenience features are standard, including Audi’s magnetic dampers, rear parking system, and xenon headlights. All of the Competition package’s unique gear won’t cost too much, either, ringing in at just €1900 (roughly $2500 at today’s exchange rates). If you’re a TT fan bummed by the fact that Audi won’t bring the Competition here, the whole shebang can be vaguely replicated with a U.S.-market TT fitted with the S-Line Competition package.
