Name That Shifter, No. 147: 1930 Bentley 8-Litre Sedan

Name That Shifter

1930 Bentley 8-Litre
Shifter No. 147On Monday, we presented this week’s shifter and asked you to identify the make and model of the vehicle whence it came. Eagle-eyed readers surely noticed that we swapped photos during the contest; we did so because the shifter was too obscured behind the car’s handbrake. (Kudos to DEM for identifying the obstacle as a handbrake.) Still, before we swapped in a fresh photo of a similar stick, some of you came stupendously close to guessing its origin.

Commenters klok, clint w., and John Christie’s speculation that the shifter came from an early Bentley was close, so given our photo snafu, we’ll award all three of them a Save the Manuals button and sticker. The shifter is actually from a 1930 Bentley 8-Litre sedan we drove a few years ago; the initial pic was of a supercharged “Blower” Bentley 4.5-Litre’s stick.
