GM said it received 27 reports of low-speed crashes caused by the problem, which affects only 2011-2012 models equipped with both the 1.4-liter turbocharged engine and six-speed automatic transmission.

BMW is expanding a recall of diesel-powered X5 SUVs with fuel filter heaters that can switch on permanently, according to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Dealers will replace the fuel filter heater this month. Owners can call BMW at 1-800-525-7417 for more information.
In February, BMW recalled 30,265 X5 models from 2007-2010 to fix brake vacuum lines that could cause the power assist to fail. In December, BMW recalled 29,800 diesel-powered X5 models from 2009-2012 for a loose bolt that could result in a loss of power steering.
